A lone tree, overlooking the Salmon River Canyon.
Last night, at sunset.
Somebody say something!!
Golden Striations
Monday, 21 July 2008
There are fires burning around the Pacific Northwest.
One burns in Washington, near Mt. Adams, the other about
40 miles east of my location.
A smoky start to the morning sunrise, the golden tones
of this shot were amazingly beautiful.
Later in the day, the striations of the smoke inversion
stood out quite well on the horizon.
The Willamette Valley is covered with smoke haze,
it is normally more visible.
Things are slowing down a bit.
The bottom of the Mile chairlift is no longer directly accessible.
There is a 20 yard walk from snow to lift.

A spot of local flora.
It's becoming dry, the lawn needs a drink.
Sunrise Parking
Friday, 18 July 2008
I used this first shot for the background on my Myspace profile.
It's a version of the picture from last week.
This next one is the parking area and the Timberline Lodge roof,
from the bottom of the Palmer lift.
My viewpoint is more than a mile from the parking lot.
Another beautiful day in the High Cascades.
Home, sweet home.
Three Thong Thursday
Thursday, 17 July 2008
I let one of my friends pick this weeks Thursday pictures.
I think their choices are perfect.
Alas, we now conclude this Thursday post.
Have a wonderful day.

View Silcox Bench
Tuesday, 15 July 2008
A couple of different views from the Silcox Hut
Daily, I am amazed at the vista's, views, and sheer
beauty of this region.
Wildlife roams the mountain, including Deer, Bear, Cougar,
Pine Marten's, Ravens, Bald Eagles, and other varieties
of critters.
I'll be capturing some of them with my camera, I'm certain.
Silcox Hut.
It's my weekend!
Volcanic Green
Monday, 14 July 2008
This tree was under nearly twenty feet of snow,
when I arrived at Timberline, near the end of May.
Mt. Jefferson peeks through the tree branches,
near the center of the picture.
My eyes like this, even if only for the greens shading away to blues.
The weather is going to start a nice cooling trend.
I work seven thousand feet above where I live.
It's been far cooler temps at work, than home.
How long till snow flies, I ponder.
Flutterby Splotches
Sunday, 13 July 2008
Two pictures of a moth that inhabits Mt. Hood.
I tried to find the name of it, but could not find anything
even close to what this looks like.
Feel free to inform me.
I know it's not a butterfly, but flutterby fits nicely
.
This is the same moth, except the wings were closed.
